sunsets under water

How did you get in contact with me?

We built a radio from parts of the old ship. Nobody pays it much attention, but I like playing with the frequencies. Why are you here?

Bored. The mountain is melting, and the sun is setting, but this is all I like doing, really.

What else do you do?

I cycle from home to here, on somebody’s bike. It gets me up to the hill nicely. Where is your ship?

Frankly, I'm not allowed to say. Though, I'm not close to where you’re broadcasting from. I don’t think we can come into contact, haha

Then what’s this?

cute

Is your ship military?

Does it matter?  Even if we were, what does that change? It used to be, none of the crew are.

How come?

What do you do for a living?

Nobody really lives here. There’s not much to be done. We just sit by, doing our daily activities, it feels.
Everybody our age watches the sun set over the reservoir. It’s quite beautiful. But, also, it happens everyday. We watch it, every evening. That kind of thing, you just find it kind of sickening, after a while. The sunset is pretty, colourful. Especially when it catches the mountain, when all you can see are these beautiful, new and neverending colours. But, after that, any purple sky is dull. We all look, but nobody feels inspired or warmed. The sunset doesn’t mean anything, really. I don’t care.

After that, I go home and sleep. We don’t have much money for food so we just make do. If I forget I need to eat, I can just pass by. What about you?

I’m an artist, I guess? idk how to answer that haha

Make me care, stranger

??

‘Cutie’.

I draw landscapes and write about them a bit? Does that answer ur question?? The ship is scanning the space around us and passing together what every part of it means. We’re phasing through some caves down by the end. I make the records and maps of what the spaces look like. There’s not much, but I haven't seen a sunset in a long while.

I guess i kinda miss them?

Do you get good sunlight where you are?

It’s okay. I’m used to writing in the dark, the power’s been out for a few years now. Where is your ship going?

To where everything ends, haha

You should stop by here, there’s a good port at the bottom of the reservoir.

I don’t think we can stop, really

How many crew is there?

Me and a few others

That sounds small. Tell me about them, sailor

Sailor?? haha

There’s not much to say. We don’t really know each other any more.

Like, we’ve all had breakfast and passed each other by in the corridors and had dinner and watched the movie together so many times, we’re just the same to each other.

Our imprint on each other is minimal. We’re all the same person, feeling the same emotions, all unilaterally bored of one another.

Sounds like you need a rest, or a break from each other

We just stay out of the way of each other. Two of us got in a little fight, but none of us could care. They felt better by the end of the day. What are you doing now

Looking at the mountain.

Haha then what? ;)

I’m going to smash ur head in, sailor

And then what? haha

Shut up

sailor

haha

What does the mountain look like?

I can't see it now. You have to see it to know it, to be able to describe it. It’s really big, and made of ice.

What do you think of the war?

What war?

Did you not see all the planes take off the other day? It was the last thing we all saw before we went underwater. It’s all the news could talk about iirc

Oh. Since the brothers arrived we haven’t really gotten a good signal. If anything important happened I assumed they’d say. Boys’ll be boys

Brothers?

Yeah, the sons of the O’Reilly’s. Do you know who they are?

I don’t know who you are

what‘s your name, then

Hm

Sssssssssssssssssssssssssss

I don’t know

I understand that

Whats your name

Cerys

That’s a nice name

Where are you?

We’re looking for the end of the world

Lol u still up?

Yeah, just getting late here.

Where’s that?

I think we passed it already but i don’t know how to say

Then use your words

I think we missed the end. Like, when a movie ends abruptly and you’re like, oh shit, there’s no more movie. I think it’s over and we missed it

Okay?

I want to go back, but the captain’s woken up again

Back where?

To the beach place I lived in. I think seeing all the planes would have been amazing from down there, across the sunset

We all get sick of sunsets

Sunsets are the best way of knowing something’s over. You’re left living in the new, fresh night. Nothing is the same as it was before, all light was temporary, and you have returned into the great river of liquid nothing

We have nothing

And we live with nothing more

Nothing by night

Sounds poetic im gonna write that down

Why do you watch the sunset?

It’s all we have to do, really. We don’t want to keep kicking cats, so we watch the houses in the sunset. It’s all the pensioners who came here before the mountain started melting. They get beautiful light, but draw their curtains.

One day, I want to miss the sunset. I want it to be day again, and live in the constant.

I don’t know what you’re talking about, great rivers of nothing.

Sorry

The light is good for the plants, right?

How did you know I kept plants?

I didn’t

What time is it where you are, sailor

I don’t know. We don’t get any light here. Not that it’s dark either. We are too far, you understand?
We are past the point of end, and are now in a place of no cycle. My little monstera is begging for some good light.

What do I do for it?

Where are you guys

The monstera’s not looking great, how are you doing today?

Kicking cats. Wbu?

What does that mean

What about you

No, the cats. That doesn’t seem nice lol

I heard it would help the brothers find what they’re looking for before the sun sets again tonight. It’s one less object

That’s cruel

I don’t think you’re real, I don’t really care what you think

How am I not real?

Where are you now?

Where are you?

Watching the mountain. Where are you?

Who are you

Watching the mountain melt still

Are you still with nothing, as in, are you watching another sunset?

No, I’m staring at the sun

Maybe we can see the same nothing, then

Sure
